NOTE: If you receive the error "The application has failed to initialize properly (0x0c0000135)" when first running CleanCache this means that you do not have Microsoft's .NET Framework installed on your system Please go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/technologyinfo/howtoget/default.aspx to download.
History
3/13/2005 v2.23 - Corrected bug where deselecting Clean Windows XP Prefetch would not work correctly. Added the ability to view/clean UserAssist registry entries.
3/13/2005 v2.22 - After 21 versions I finally have a help file! Added an option to clean Windows XP prefetch. Corrected bug with Outlook cleaning. Corrected the dreaded shutdown twice bug. Added more descriptive status messages. When cleaning and the CleanCache GUI is on the screen, it will no longer look as though it's locked up.
1/30/2005 v2.21 - Secure wiping has been re-written from the ground up to use Windows API calls for writing to disk directly. Added a clean Outlook function to delete Outlook temporary directory.
12/30/2004 v2.20 - Corrected secure wiping.
12/24/2004 v2.19 - Corrected and added more functionality to MRU cleaning. Added functionality to automatically go to the status screen when manually cleaning from the tabs.
12/18/2004 v2.18 - Added option to delay cleaning on IE close from 1-30 seconds. Added ability to delete saved cookies from Cookies tab. This is useful when you have saved cookies that match favorites but invalid cookies have been saved. Fix to not remove root directory when recursively deleting a directory.
10/13/2004 v2.16 - Added support for Internet Explorer shell browsers (Avant, Maxthon, etc). Corrected bad bug that caused problems when shutting down Windows with CleanCache running.
6/16/2004 v2.13 - Finally found the bug in secure wiping and IE so secure wiping is implemented in this release. Corrected a bug with the startup shortcuts and MS Office registry cleaning.
4/12/2004 v2.12 - Added cleaning options for MS Office products. Added cleaning for Outlook Express. Added the ability to specify when you want cleaning groups to run (at startup/shutdown/ie close). Added 'stealth mode' where no messages/icons appear. You can recall CleanCache by using a Ctrl-Alt-key combination. Added the option to automatically save cookies if they match your IE favorites. Corrected Additive bug and clean on startup then exit bug.
3/8/2004 v2.11 - Most prominent change is the new Status Tab. I have removed the confusing checked listbox with a listview component. This allowed me to put image statuses as well as a descriptive status that does not look like something the user needs to click on. Added two new temp directory cleans (c:\temp and c:\windows\temp). CleanCache will automatically get your windows install directory (the wording will change on the selection based upon your install directory). If you select c:\temp and it doesn't exist it this will not cause a problem. I have tweaked the code when deleting the temp directories to remove locked files and folders. Added a much needed array to keep track of locked files being deleted so the same entry is not entered into the registry over and over again. Two new clean option is available: Clean at Windows startup then exit and Clean at Windows Shutdown.
2/24/2004 v2.10 - Discovered a problem with cleaning the cookies index.dat and saved cookies. I have disabled cleaning the cookies index.dat until fixed. Sorry for this issue!
2/24/2004 v2.10 - Finally have implemented long needed functionality...cleaning the index.dat files! When CleanCache cleans, all index.dat files will be nulled correctly as well as scheduled for deletion on the next reboot. This will definitely help with the confusion caused by cleaning with CleanCache then viewing the Temporary Internet Files directory in Windows Explorer. You will no long see any files after a clean.
2/23/2004 v2.08 - Corrected two unhandled exceptions that occurred on some users systems when cleaning MRU's/AutoComplete. Modified the Additives tab to show a file status text box rather than a popup message. The tray icon will now turn red during cleaning so that you know the program is doing it's job when you do not have the message turned on.
2/17/2004 v2.07 - I apologize for such a quick release. I try to make an improvement and only make things worse. With the new font, the listboxes horizontal scroll bars would not scroll far enough to the right to view the entire Cookie/URL/File, etc. All of these have been corrected (Cookies tab, Typed URLs tab and all Additive dialogs) A bug was corrected when the finished message was not being displayed if you did not have AutoComplete checked.
2/16/2004 v2.06 - Small appearance changes. Added 3 selectable color schemes. Changed the fonts in the listboxes to Verdana...much easier to read! Changed the New and Edit additive dialogs.
2/12/2004 v2.05 - Added three new Windows clean options, Windows Media Player, Word Pad and Clipboard. Finally corrected the icon issue!
2/9/2004 v2.04 - Addressed the Windows shutdown problem that CleanCache was causing when minimized to the tray. When the completed splash screen was displayed, this dialog/timer is causing the user to shutdown twice to get a successful shutdown. To alleviate this, I have removed the splash screen for the moment and have replaced it with a message box that is configurable to be shown through the options. Addressed non-trapped exceptions to help tighten up error trapping.
2/8/2004 v2.03 - Added code to correctly delete all history index.dat files. Corrected bug to not delete the desktop.ini file in the Recent documents folder
2/6/2004 v2.02 - Added a program change to not accept spaces in the Additives name. Corrected the problem with the Additives listbox not displaying the correct deleted Additive. Added feature to show Additives being run on the Task tab (if you have Run Additives at Clean checked). Modified the Cookies and Typed URLs listboxes to be multiselect. Fixed assundary bugs with the Additives functionality.
2/3/2004 v2.01 - Corrected bug where turning off 'Clean at IE Broswer Close' would not work correctly (it was always cleaning at browser close). Tweaked the setup program to not overwrite registry entries to allow install over existing installation and remove the CleanCache.lnk in the startup folder on uninstall. Corrected a bug where a checked additive would not remain checked when switching from the Additives Tab to another tab. Added code to handle inserting existing Additives into the Registry if CleanCache was uninstalled then re-installed (the Additives subdirectory is not removed on uninstall)
2/3/2004 v2.01 - Addition - If you are receiving an error when attempting to edit an Additive, please download and install the program again. This issue has been fixed.
2/1/2004 v2.01 - Correction to IE Clean form to correctly display which autocompletion method being used. Moved the option 'Run Additives at Clean' from the Options page to the Additives page. Do not display completed splash screen when using IE's built in autocomplete feature.
Important Note: If upgrading to a newer version, just install the new program over the old program. This will retain all of your settings and additives.
